Abstract submission deadline extended!

In response to many contributors request, the deadline for NURIS abstracts is extended to 15 February 2015!

Submitted abstracts should provide sufficient detail to allow the program committee to evaluate their relevance to the conference (criteria: originality, contribution to the discourse on nuclear risks, and research content). Abstracts should not exceed 500 words, excluding title and author(s) affiliation. In addition, applicants should provide a one paragraph biography. One author of each accepted abstract is expected to register for the conference and to present the paper. A template for submission can be found here NURIS 2015 Abstract template

The abstracts and presentations must be in English.

Call for Abstracts open

The Call for Abstracts is open. Participants are asked to present their work on the implications of nuclear technologies, insights in recent developments and general research in the field. The interdisciplinary context of the conference suggests presentations to meet both, scientific quality and general comprehensibility.

List of Topics

  • Role of nuclear energy in (desired) future energy systems
  • Nuclear technology of existing reactors and related risks (e.g. risk-informed operation, licensing including risk-informed regulation, probabilistic risk assessment, deterministic safety analysis, code development, assessment and validation, severe accidents and analysis, radiological consequences and analysis, Fukushima accident analysis)
  • Proliferation risks
  • Risks of nuclear fuel supply
  • Risk governance and transparency
  • Risks of radioactive waste management and disposal
  • Economic risks
  • Risks of new nuclear technology concepts
